HUMAN TRIGGERED WIND SLAB AVALANCHES ARE LIKELY IN SPECIFIC AREAS TODAY.
Increasing avalanche hazard for wind slab avalanches in specific areas, at mid to upper elevations, on leeward, West to North aspects.
Strong winds overnight transported approximately 9″ of low density snow onto leeward aspects. These new wind slabs will be touchy, approximately 1 foot thick, and sitting on weak snow, such as near surface facets and buried surface hoar, and smooth crust bed surfaces.
Wind slab avalanches will be large enough to bury, injure, or kill a person.
