Hatcher Pass

Avalanche Warning
Issued: February 16, 2022 7:00 amTravel in avalanche terrain is not recommended. Avoid being on or beneath all steep slopes. |
Hatcher Pass has received almost an inch of water in the past 24hrs and the brunt of the storm is upon us.
12-18″ of heavy wet snow combined with increasing southwest winds are expected today. New snow and wind will easily overload weak layers that have been lingering all season and easily reactivated with each storm.
It will be very likely to human trigger large to very large avalanches 1 to 4 ft deep on all aspects, at all elevations, on slopes steeper than 30°. Large to very large natural avalanches are likely.

The HP road is closed at mile 11 due and will be reassessed on Friday.
